KA journalists celebrate National Press Day

Diphu, Nov.16 (EMN): Along with rest of the country, the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong (DPCKA) observed ‘National Press Day’ at its DPCKA office on Thur. Nov. 16.
The program began with hoisting of its flag by President Kiri Ronghang followed by a moment of remembrance for the departed souls of the fraternity who lost their lives on duty.
The journalist fraternity from both electronic and print media of Karbi Anglong participated in the program and expressed their views and opinions about the role and responsibilities and the problems faced by the journalists in the region.
A conclave was also held presided by its President while the objective of the meeting was delivered by General Secretary Danielson Bey.
Addressing in the program, senior journalist, Bureau Chief of Karbi Anglong Newslives said that, National Press day’ was first celebrated in 1997 in India under the aegis of Press Council of India and that the journalists plays a vital role in all round development of the society.
Joysing Tokbi, President, Karbi Anglong Journalist Union (KAJU) elaborated about the important roles of a journalist. He said media is a service for the society and that if a journalist should render true service and should provide positive service to the society/committee to the best of one’s ability.
Nagen Bora, most Senior Journalist in Karbi Anglong who attended the program as the chief guest, stated that as Journalist one has to be bold and brave while rendering the media service to the society. He said, always attempt to present exclusive story, but it should be revised several times before presenting the news to the public.
Also, the District Information and Public Relation Department in collaboration with Diphu Press club observed National Press day at Farmers Growth Centre, where MLA Dr. Mansing Rongpi and KAAC, EM Amarsing Tisso and other dignitaries attended in the program.
