KA delegations heads for Delhi to press on Autonomous State issue; sit-in-demonstration on Aug. 8
Diphu, Aug. 5 (EMN): Inorder to press the central government on Autonomous State issue, the Autonomous State delegation headed by Karbi Anglong NC Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee (KAANCHASDCOM) and other supporting organisations have left for New Delhi on Friday to hold a sit-in-demonstration at Jantar Mantar on August 8, to press the Central government in this Monsoon session of Parliament on Autonomous State issue.
More than 300 delegations comprising of organisations like the KAANCHASDCOM, KSA, Karbi So-Arlo Amei, Karbi Riso Adorbar, Karbi Adorbar, Tiwa Adorbar, Karbi Unemployed Youth Association, Dimasa Students Union, Dimasa Mother Association, Jadikhe Naisho Hoshom – Dimasa apex body and Dimasa Women Society have left from various destinations including Diphu, Halflong and Guwahati.
Talking to media persons before leaving for New Delhi at Diphu Railway Station, the president of KAANCHASDCOM, Ajit Timung said provision is there in the Indian constitution to grant Autonomous State under Article 244(A). He said, iIt has been 30 years already since the people of the three hill districts have been demanding an Autonomous State.
The sit-in-demonstration on August 8 at Jantar Mantar will be held to pressure the central government on the Autonomous State issue during the Monsoon session of Parliament.
Timung said, “It is very unfortunate that even in this long journey we could not achieve it. The KAANCHASDCOM and its allied organisations will continue to struggle until it is fulfilled”.
While thanking CEM, KAAC, Dr. Tuliram Ronghang; EMs Lunsing Teron and Amarsing Tisso and Ritesh Enghi and other EMs and MACs for their support, Timung said team Karbi Anglong is truly in support of the Autonomous State.
Timung also stated that on August 8 the sit-in-demonstration will be from 11 am till 4 pm. MP Horensing Bey will attend the demonstration to express solidarity with the Autonomous State delegation.
