The five senior Congress members have unanimously resolved to support H Tovihoto Ayemi, the BJP candidate of Dimapur-I assembly seat.
Addressing media persons at Thahekhu village on Thursday, Yepthomi informed that he along with DCC vice president and co-ordination election campaign committee, I Asang Jamir, president of Ward-22 parent body, Kihovi Sumi, president of Ward-22 mahila, Hukashi and secretary of Ward-22 mahila, Amen, resigned from the Congress, alleging lack of trust and co-ordination between the INC candidate and him.
Yepthomi said he has been serving the Congress for the last 20 years but when there was no confidence and trust between the candidate and the chief agent, it is not possible to go ahead.

Clarifying to rumours that the BJP candidate had offered him INR 1 crore, he said the rumours were with intent to tarnish his image as he did not receive a single rupee.
Yepthomi said he along with his colleagues resigned from the Congress and decided to support BJP candidate Tovihoto Ayemi as they find him to be a young and dynamic leader who can serve the people of his constituency, as proven by his previous records.
When asked the reason for changing allegiance after being in the Congress party for so many years, Yepthomi said that there was no point in staying in a party where there is no future. He also said another reason was that they need a young dynamic leader who can represent the constituency.
Yepthomi further clarified that when the candidate does not take his advice or co-ordinate with him, then how can a chief agent work to win the election. Dimapur, Feb. 23 (EMN)
