Juni Book Café hosts open-mic poetry session

DIMAPUR — Juni Book Café on Saturday hosted an open-mic poetry session with noted poet and author, Easterine Kire.

During the session Kire recited her poems ‘Breakfast Jazz’ and ‘Diamonds’ and held interactive reading session with the participants on her poems ‘The body is a map’ and ‘All the missing socks.’ They also sang together the poem titled ‘Will tomorrow ever come.’

Observing many young students among the participants, Kire expressed happiness to witness many young readers.

Tokaholi Chishi, assistant professor at St Joseph University, read two of her poems titled ‘Fields of poppy’ and ‘For the gold and a hope,’ while Inakali Assumi, assistant professor at St John’s College, Dimapur, also read three of her poems titled ‘The moon song,’ ‘Home,’ and ‘Father and I.’

Dr Abeni Khuvung, homeopathy practitioner, also performed a song on the occasion.

Following the open mic session, Kire officially launched the Juni Book Café readers club.

Meanwhile, the proprietor of the book café, Juni Yeptho, shared that it was the first time they are organising such event. In regard to those who desire to join the reader club, she informed that a registration fee of INR 300 would be charged for three months, INR 500 for five months and INR 1000 for one year. She added that a concession of 10% would be given for students who want to register.
