Jorhat Admn spreads gospel of peace at Assam-Nagaland border

In an attempt to thwart the fear psychosis amongst the people living in the border areas specially in border of Jorhat district adjoining with Mokokchung, Jorhat district administration has organized code name ‘Border Week ‘at Lowjan M.E. School premises in Selenghat block today along the Assam-Nagaland border.
Speaking on this occasion, DC Jorhat Solanki Vishal, IAS said that he and his officers along with the BPCC (A-N) members had come to spread the gospel of peace and to hear the sufferings of the border masses.
A host of district officials representing the development departments like PHED, PWD (R&B), Health, Education, Welfare, Rural Development, Food & Civil Supplies, Forest, ASEB, Agriculture & Veterinary etc departments have interacted with the masses and recorded their grievances in today’s get together “Gaon Sabha”.Roupjyoti Kurmi, Mariani, MLA took part in the meet and elaborated different governmental schemes executed in these areas for the public welfare. He urged upon the administrators and officials to devote sincerely in delivering services to the people.
President of Border Peace Coordination Committee (A-N) B.P. Bora has exalted the Jorhat district administration for initiating and stakeholding with the committee to build such a platform where people living in the border can reach and speak to the top hierarchy of the district at their doorstep. He praised the heads of various developmental departments for visiting these remote places and urged upon extending help to develop the places for good.
Speaking on the occasion, the district police representative, Dy. SP, 1st AP Bn, Hussain narrated some situations which were a result of rumors which engulfed tension in the border belt and its people. He therefore urged the public not to propagate any false alarm, which only harms them in the end.
Coordinator of BPCC (A-N) emphasized the need to establish super specialty hospitals for the benefit of either side people, multipurpose cultural & sports complexes for exchange of sports & cultural extravaganzas at regular intervals between the people, which shall imbibe good neighbourhood in the common border areas of Assam-Nagaland.
He opined that cooperative farming might be encouraged in the common border areas at the fallow lands with the consultations by both the Governments with stakeholding with the border people from either side. This will too imbibe good neighbourhood to brotherhood with a dedicated respect and mutual trust amongst the border people. He also suggested High School students belonging to border areas alternately visiting each other’s places on excursions during holidays. This can be logistically worked out between the authorities of either states where education departments of both sides takes initiative and BPCC (A-N) can extend other correspondence logistic.
The meeting was chaired by Sub Deputy Collector of Teok revenue circle, Khanindra Das and welcome speech was said by Headmaster of Lowjan ME School Indreswar Gogoi.
The next round of Gaon Sabha will take place at Jungle Block High School near New Sonowal tomorrow.
