Jongpongmenla is Miss Mokokchung 2014

THE month of preparation, weeks of grooming and days of rehearsals paid off on Friday, September 19 night as Mokokchung Arts & Aesthetics Management (MAAM) organized Miss Mokokchung 2014 beauty pageant was held in a grand manner attended by enthusiastic audience.  Finally, after nearly three hours of songs, dances, question hour and presentation of the contestants, twenty-two year old Miss Jongpongmenla (contestant No-7), a scholar of Nagaland University, was crowned as the Miss Mokokchung 2014.
Miss Yangerkumla (contestant No-9) was adjudged the 1st runner-up while Miss Watimongla Longkumer (contestant No-10) bagged the 2nd runner-up. The winner was awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and gift hampers while the 1st and 2nd runner-ups were awarded cash prize of Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively along with gift hampers.
The show was graced by O.P Phom, Civil judge (1st class magistrate) as the special guest in place of Horticulture Director Watienla Jamir, who could not make it to the show due to some pressing government duties. Nonetheless, the presence of O.P Phom made the show much grander and he also read out a message by the Horticulture Director during the programme.
Meanwhile, the subtitle winners were: Miss Perfect 10 – Watimongla Longkumer; Miss Flawless Skin – Nediya Arya; Miss Awesome Legs – Tyansen Mongro; Miss Beautiful Smile – Yangerkumla; Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality – Bendanginla. The subtitle winners were awarded gift hampers sponsored by different companies and individuals.
The contest was judged by a panel of judges brought in from different fields: Tokatoli Sohe (Chief Judge), Livitoli Sukhalu, Tony Thoudam, Toshizen and Er. Swelul Pucho.
It may be noted that the Miss Mokokchung 2014 organized by MAAM was held under the aegis of MDACC. The proceeds from the pageant will be used to start a trust fund to aid the poor cancer patients being treated at IMDH, Mokokchung.
