DIMAPUR — A joint village council meeting comprising of representatives from villages under Niuland, Tseminyu, Wokha, and Kohima districts was held on August 14 at Niuland town.

According to an update, village leaders and elders from Hovishe, Ghotovi, Yankeli, Logwesunyu, Tsogin, Gwachonlo, Tsosinyu, and Phekerkriema (Basa & Bawe) villages attended the meeting.

The meeting unanimously resolved to strengthen the common platform under the name ‘Joint Village Co-ordination Committee’ (JVCC), as resolved and formed on September 11, 2024.

The joint village council affirmed to strongly uphold the joint representation submitted to the PWD (R&B) minister on September 11, 2024, wherein it was decided that no village council or individual shall demand land compensation against the existing Kohima–Bokajan road (Niuland–Zadima road via Ghotovi).

The council also resolved that no individual or Naga political group would be allowed to disturb or impose taxes on the contractor, as this could compromise the project's progress.

“The work undertaken by the contractor shall be strictly as per the specified DPR, which shall be monitored by the JVCC, with no compromise at any cost.

“The Joint Village Council also resolved to fully assist the contractor at all times until the completion of the work, in order to enable timely completion,” it stated.

Further, the council resolved to hold a meeting with the concerned department and the contractor as and when the work tender is issued.
