John Yesong Memorial School Kiphire celebrates silver jubilee

DIMAPUR — John Yesong Memorial School, Phelungre, Kiphire, celebrated its silver jubilee on October 17. The celebration was attended by John Tsulise Sangtam, secretary of Work and Housing, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest, and Rev. Dr James Thoppil, bishop of Kohima, as the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Tsulise said, “Learning is a lifelong process, and the willingness to learn is a choice.”

According to an update, he shared his life story and journey of hard work that led him to the highest level of state bureaucracy. He appreciated the late John Yesong, the first catechist of the Tseaung district, who, along with his late father, had initiated schooling at Loyola Higher Secondary School, Kiphire.

He said hard work lays the foundation while blessings provide opportunities, guidance, and support to overcome challenges. He encouraged students to respect their teachers and strive for academic excellence.

During the thanksgiving mass, Dr. James Thoppil appreciated those who had served the school in the past and present. He said, “Silver jubilee celebration is a moment to reflect on achievements, express gratitude, and look forward with hope and optimism.”

He added that the jubilee marks a significant milestone—25 years of unwavering commitment, perseverance, and growth—and symbolises renewal, revitalised purpose, and renewed commitment.
