The cease-work strike at JNIMS by the teachers’ association of the institute has been suspended for three weeks from yesterday. The strike was launched on several demands, the most prominent being the removal of present JNIMS Director Dr M Shyamo from his post.Regarding the protest, the association has issued a press statement.
Association president Deven Laishram said that Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister have given their assurance to look into the matter and the demands.
As a result, a general body meeting of the association was held Sunday noon at JNIMS Conference Hall, and the meeting unanimously decided to suspend the strike for three weeks, during which the government must translate its assurance into action.
Association spokesperson Dr N Jitendra further stated the general meeting resolved to strengthen its demand for the removal of the Director by giving him ‘forced leave’.
After the suspension, medical officers of the institute have resumed their duties.
However, the ongoing cease work strike of the nurses may hamper in the normal functioning of the institute, thereby still giving inconvenience to the public.
