Mokokchung, July 06 (EMN):
Jubilee Memorial College (JMC), Mokokchung, held its 3rd Freshers’ Social on July 6, at the Mayangnokcha Govt. Hr. Sec. School Auditorium, with Colonel Vijay Ahlawat Commanding Officer of 25 Nagaland NCC (I) Coy. as the special guest.

The Army officer in his speech appreciated the sense of cleanliness among the people of Nagaland and the rich costume and tradition inherited from their forefathers.

He also asserted that the same technological advancement or higher education imparted in other parts of the Indian state is available in the state; therefore, it is better for the students to pursue their studies here while sticking to their root.

However, Col. Ahlawat lamented the use or addiction for mobile phones and internet among the students and therefore asked the students to limit the use of mobiles and internet and keep their mind free from those ‘addictive habits’.

He further encouraged the students to take up courses that they are interested in and choose their career or jobs that would give them satisfaction in their life.

The College Principal Akumyala while welcoming the freshers maintained that the college is imparting quality education since its inception. She pointed out to the new students that they will become part of the college and encouraged them to acquire the best knowledge from the institution.

The principal also challenged the students to expand capability and be responsible citizens so that they do not lose their track.

Meanwhile, Monglier Youth Evangelist MTBA pronounced a special prayer for the freshers and special music presentations were given by Imliyangla  BA 5th Semester and Imnangangla spoke on behalf of the freshers.

The second session, which was compared by Aapoksangba and Immennaro saw very impressive and interesting performances from the students that included songs, dances. Merensheen Longkumer and Temjensola were also adjudged Mr Fresher and Miss Fresher respectively.
