Dimapur, August 29: John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema, observed its 70th anniversary with the secretary of NPSC, Khrupi Sothu, as the chief guest.
The chief guest, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the founding members and land donors for their vision to start a school for betterment of the future generation.
JGHSS is 70 years old and considered third oldest school in Nagaland which has produced a number of great leaders, bureaucrats in different fields from Southern Angami villages and other Naga villages from the neighouring state of Manipur.Earlier, the school was considered as one of the best schools in Nagaland but with the passage of time, the school’s performance has shown downward trend as compared to the last ten years.
He called upon all the stakeholders, teachers, parents, students, managing board and all concerned to work together for improving the school. He also challenged the participants to wake up from stagnancy and bring progress and development.
Krope Koza, the School Headmaster, in his welcome address, said the commemoration of 70th years of JGHSS in a special manner was in preparation for the upcoming platinum jubilee celebration of the school scheduled in 2021.
Vikluto John, Superintendent of Police, Peren; Rusovil John, member secretary of Nagaland Pollution Control Board; KN Pusha and UK Nair also delivered short speeches.
Special songs were presented by JHSS choir, Tati song by Beizo and Kuolemenuo. The chief guest also released the school magazine, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. ChumbeniKikon, Principal JHSS.
