Eight-year-old Jeremy Nitova Zhimomi becomes the youngest player from Nagaland to achieve a FIDE Standard Rating of 1420.

DIMAPUR — Jeremy Nitova Zhimomi, an eight-year-old chess player, achieved a FIDE Standard Rating of 1420 on January 1, becoming the youngest player from Nagaland to achieve a FIDE Standard Rating.
According to the Nagaland Chess Association (NCA), the FIDE (World Chess Federation) awarded the rating following his outstanding performance during the 23rd North Eastern States Chess Championship held in December 2025 in Aizawl, Mizoram.

Making his debut in a rated tournament, Zhimomi was paired against six rated opponents with ratings of 1671, 1666, 1634, 1538, and 1445, along with an unrated player. Despite the odds, he scored 3.5 points.
‘His achievement is a great boost and a proud moment for all the Nagaland chess players as well as the Nagaland Chess Association. The Nagaland Chess Association heartily congratulates Jeremy for his outstanding achievement and for becoming the youngest FIDE-rated player from Nagaland,” the statement from NCA read.
