Mokokchung, October 29: Jentir Academy of Music (JAM) - a new music school aimed at providing high quality professional music education- was officially inaugurated by I Temsu Jamir, vice president of Mokokchung District Art and Culture Council (MDACC), at Alongmen Ward, Mokokchung, on October 29. The dedicatory prayer was said O Alang, pastor of Kobulong Baptist Church.
While pointing out that Nagas are very talented in many fields, Temsu Jamir, noted with regret that ‘we could not master our talents and gift’ in a specified profession due to lack of dedication and hard work.
In this regard, he advised the music instructors to initiate consultative programme in order to identify their talents in which music instruments they are good at and also to impart the students with the latest knowledge and technologies available today.
Lamenting that many good musicians, after achieving fame, get lost track of their career and become addicted to drugs and other intoxicating substances, he urged the music instructors to guide their pupils to be disciplined, humbled and to be very serious about their profession.
The school is run under the tutelage of Sangpolong Jentir, a certified guitar professional from Rockschool Limited UK, East India Region, and mentored by renowned American guitarist, Vinnie Moore.
JAM is affiliated to Hillspraise Music Academy and followed the Rockschool, London, curriculum.
At present, the school offers courses on guitar, keyboard, and drums. For examinations, JAM also offers students to opt for government registered certificate or international examinations certificate. JAM will start classes for the first batch from November first week.
