Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): A high power delegation of the Janata Dal (United) will visit Nagaland from June 29 to July 1 to pay tribute to Jaya Prakash Narayan, member of the peace mission.
The delegation will comprise of Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, JDU national president and Lok Sabha MP and chairman of Parliamentary Board on Energy; Afaque Ahmed Khan, JDU national general secretary and in-charge of Northeast and member of Bihar legislative council; Harshvardhan Singh, JDU national general secretary; Kaushalendra Kumar, Lok Sabha MP; Ramprit Mandal, Lok Sabha MP; and Aneel Prasad Hegde, Rajya Sabha MP.
In a press release, president of JDU Nagaland, Senchumo NSN Lotha, and the general secretary, Kitoho S Rotokha, stated that Jaya Prakash Narayan, lovingly called JP, had traversed length and breadth of the Naga areas as member of peace mission in the 1960s to understand the pulse of the Naga people and their political movement for independence. It mentioned that JP had conveyed to the Indian government of the day that a displeased Nagas at the border would be detrimental to the interest of India and interceded for a solution.
Report also stated that apart from meeting with various civil societies on June 30, the high power delegation would pay a visit to Late AZ Phizo grave and also meet the press fraternity.
