Dimapur, Aug. 26 (EMN): The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigration (JCPI) has sent a request to eight tribe hohos, Kachari Tribal Council, and ENPO to depute a member each from their community – making for a total of 10 members, to represent the state of Nagaland to the North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEFIP) as per the structural requirement for the charter of the newly constituted forum.

In a press release issued by the convenor of JCPI, K Ghokheto Chophy, the committee has stated that 10 members will be Nagaland’s permanent representative to the NEFIP, routed through its office.

It may be mentioned that the JCPI is a state member representing Nagaland to the NEFIP as endorsed by the apex tribe bodies at the meeting held at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur, on May 18 this year.

The committee has requested the presidents of all the tribe bodies to nominate and give the names of their members to the convenor of the JCPI by August 28. The 10-member delegation representing the state will participate in the NEFIP Assembly at Aizawl, Mizoram from Sep. 4 to the 6th.

In the meantime JCPI meeting will be held at hotel Jal Mahal, Mhalie Park, Dimapur, on August 28 at 4 pm.
