Dimapur, Feb. 17: Joint Coordination Committee (JCC)-spearheaded by tribal organisations, today reaffirmed continuing with the present bandh till the time TR Zeliang resigns from the post of chief ministership.
However, the timing of the bandh has been changed from 9 am – 3 pm effective from February 18 for the convenience of the public, while it notified to all the tribal bodies to continue with the agitation and bandh in their respective districts and jurisdiction. JCC further appealed to all the volunteers to remain in their designated area of duty in order to avoid confusion and maintain discipline.
JCC also notified to all the volunteers that the as per the meeting on February 16 it was resolved that pastors on special duty with due authorisation letter signed and sealed by respective churches will be exempted from the purview of the bandh along with the JCC media Cell in-charges, ambulances, vehicles with school children, police on duty, press and media personnel, vehicles with patients with medical reports, vehicles ferrying food and water for volunteers, vehicles attending (wedding cards must be produced on demand) and funerals and buses and vehicles on exam duty.
JCC further demanded the government to immediately restore internet services for the sake of the students who are appearing exams and filling up of online applications.
Gokheto Chopy, vice president Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), appreciated the public for their cooperation toward the movement spearheaded by JCC and appealed to the public to maintain calm so as to maintain peace in Dimapur.
Zunheboto calls off band on Feb 18, 19
Sumi Hoho Zunheboto (SHZ) has decided to call off the bandh on February 18 and 19 in the interest of the public in the district. This was mentioned in a verbal note from the hoho under the direction of the hoho general secretary Vihuto Asumi.
