Jawans sensitised on HIV and AIDS

District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Dimapur, and ‘B’ Coy, 164 Infantry Battalion, (TA) (H&H) Naga Regiment, have jointly organized an advocacy sensitization programme on HIV/AIDS for personnel of ‘B’ Coy, 164 Infantry Battalion (TA) (H&H) Naga Regiment on November 15 at Rangapahar, Dimapur. The programme was an initiative of Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), Kohima.

Major K Kaping of ‘B’ Coy, 164 Inf. Bn. (T.A) (H&H) Naga, in his welcome note, has thanked DAPCU team and the NSACS, Kohima, for organizing the advocacy sensitization programme and for reaching out to the Jawans of ‘B’ Coy, 164 Inf. Bn. (TA) (H&H) Naga in giving awareness and education on HIV and AIDS.
The participants were sensitized on the topic of Basic of HIV and AIDS which was shared by Yanger Aier, M&E Assistant, DAPCU Dimapur. He has highlighted on the main routes of HIV transmission, preventive measures and the myths and misconception of HIV and AIDS. Atsung, Programme Manager of Prodigals Home (Migrants), has shared on the topic of STI and the signs and symptoms of STI.
Meanwhile, Ms. Mecievinuo Zhotso, DPO, DAPCU Dimapur, has thanked the Commanding Officer, OC Bravo Company of ‘B’ Coy, 164 Inf. Bn (T.A) (H&H) Naga, for allowing the team to organize the programme. She further highlighted on the topic of Stigma and Discrimination associated with HIV and AIDS, the root cause, types, consequence and overcoming HIV related Stigma and Discrimination.
Altogether 91 jawans have participated in the programme while 67 jawans including the senior officials came forward for voluntary blood testing.
