Dimapur, June 25 (EMN): A security jawan, who was posted on duty at a quarantine centre in Mon, has been detected with Covid-19 through TrueNat machine, informed Chief Medical Officer Mon district Dr. Kechongol Sophie on Thursday. A test was taken after he showed symptoms of the virus.

The CMO told Eastern Mirror that the jawan’s swab has been sent to the ICMR- Regional Medical Research Centre, NE, Dibrugarh, for confirmation and the final result was awaited. He added that the test result will be confirmed on June 26.

However, the CMO refuted a message, about four jawans being tested positive in Mon, doing the rounds on social media, saying that there is no such report except for one jawan whose sample awaits confirmation from Dibrugarh.

The deputy commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K, on June 24 issued an order imposing total lockdown in Mon district from June 25 to the 28th. The measure was enforced with a view to contain the spread of Covid-19.

The DC, in the order, announced that movement of public is strictly prohibited except on medical emergencies; all shops except pharmacy will remain closed; and movement of private vehicles are strictly prohibited. While requesting the people to comply with the order, he also stated that any person found violating the order would be penalised under relevant provisions of the law.
