Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): The Japfüphi Thenuko Block Level Federation (JTBLF) with 17 Village Level Organizations (VLO) and 224 Self Help Groups (SHG) observed its 2nd foundation day at Jakha Town Hall in Jakhama. The federation promoted by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) was formed on August 10, 2016 and is one of the first federations to be formed under the Mission, a press release received here on Friday mentioned.
Resource person, Menuoneituo Chadi, chief operating officer (Skills and Youth Intervention), NSRLM reminded that the Jakhama RD block being a resource block for Kohima district for implementation of NRLM programs needs to show the way for others to emulate since most pilot interventions are being done here. He said the celebration of a foundation day is a time to move forward to improve not only the lives of individual SHG families but the community as a whole.
Talking about the various programs under NRLM especially the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP), he urged the community to avail such opportunities for the benefit of the youths. He also mentioned that programs such as the MKSP to improve the status of women in agriculture and enhance opportunities available and DDU-GKY. A skilling program for the youth is also being implemented for which, ample training would be provided to the community service providers and implementing agencies to take these programs forward, he informed.
He further spoke about innovations in the field of branding and promotion of SHG products that is in the process which would greatly improve market opportunities in coming years.
Chadi said that other ministries under the Government of India are coming forward to work with NRLM SHGs and therefore, community institutions such as the block level federations need to be strengthened further through continued cooperation and coordination.
