DIMAPUR — The Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) will organise its fifth convention from January 9 to the 12th at St. Xavier Parish, Jalukie, in Peren district.
The convention, hosted by the Zeliangrong Catholic Association of Nagaland (ZCAN), will be held on the theme ‘Pilgrims of faith, hope, and love,’ an update stated.
The convention will be attended by Most Rev. Eugene Joseph, Bishop of Varanasi and Chairman of Commission for Laity, Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI); and Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, who will preside over key liturgical celebrations.
The four-day event will bring together clergy, religious, and lay delegates from across Nagaland for prayer, reflection, and fellowship. The programme includes Eucharistic celebrations, thematic sessions, faith-sharing, and cultural events.

A special adoration and healing service, animated by the Divine Mercy Retreat Team of the Diocese of Kohima, will be held to provide space for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal.
The main speakers for the convention include Fr. Kokto Kurian, Fr. Mhabemo Mathew, Sr. Margaret Sekhose MSMHC, Dr. Johnny Kadunsin Ruangmei, and Fr. Dr. Francis Cheerangal, who will address themes related to Church history, Scripture, Marian devotion, Catholic social teaching, and Christian witness in the context of Nagaland.
“The fifth CAN convention marks an important milestone in strengthening unity, deepening faith, and renewing commitment to the mission of the Church in Nagaland,” the update stated.
