Jalukie celebrates new stadium with sporting event

Dimapur, August 26: A new sporting facility and a coinciding sporting event have been inaugurated in Jalukie in Peren district on Thursday, August 25.
The facility is a multi-purpose Indoor stadium and the sporting event is the Yonex Sunrise 40th Nagaland Inter-district and State Open Badminton Championship.
The minister for Road & Bridges Y Vikheho Swu inaugurated the stadium and the event, the minister is also the president of the Nagaland Badminton Association.Speaking at the inaugural function as the chief guest, the minister expressed his deep appreciation to the department of Youth Resources & Sports for the successful construction of the multi-purpose Indoor Stadium (MIS). He lamented that Nagas are lacking behind in management and therefore urged the people to make good use of it as one’s own property.
He also cited the example of P.V. Sidhu who brought laurels to the nation through her sincerity, hard work and dedication and called upon the players to maintain good discipline and play with the spirit of sportsmanship as success will come only through hard working and dedication.
Meanwhile in the badminton championship, around hundred players from the nine districts including Nagaland Police team are taking part in the tournament.
Earlier, the chief guest unveiled the monolith and also presented National Level Award to Imlirenla Jamir and Joseph Sumi for their All India Mixed Double runners-up 2016.
