An awareness programme on HIV/AIDS was organized by District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) Phek on December 10 at District Jail, Phek. Speaking at the function, DPO, DAPCU, Kuduvo Kezo shared the basics of HIV/AIDS, facilities and care and support treatment available in the district. He also apprised the inmates to abstain themselves from doing anti-social activities which had led to family disorganization and vulnerability to HIV infection.
He encourages them to change their behavior through maintaining healthy hygiene and daily devotions.
The day also marked with voluntary free HIV testing by Mobile ICTC team and free distribution of food items, commodities and IEC materials.
Altogether seventeen inmates opted for HIV testing .Various jail officials also attended the programme.
