Jadonang football tourney begins in Imphal

IMPHAL, November 9

The 9th edition of Jadonang Memorial Football Tournament kicked off on November 9 at Thau Ground, Thangmeiband, Imphal.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, minister for Commerce and Industries Govindas Konthoujam, Parliamentary Secretary for Tribal Affairs and IT Victor Keishing, MLA Y Irabot, former minister Dr. Kh Loken, and Secretary of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Jyotin Waikhom.
In his speech, Gaikhangam remembered Jadonang’s courage and sacrificing role for the betterment and welfare of the people and the nation. He advised the players to learn from Jadonang’s ideology and also to have discipline and sporting spirit.
He further appealed to the organisers to make the tournament a ‘tournament of peace, love and unity.’
Altogether 24 teams from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Tamenglong, Senapati and Churachandpur districts are taking part in the competition. The final match will be played on December 2.
