THE ICFA University Nagaland (IUN) organized its first cultural programme under the theme ‘One Tribe’ to create awareness on our cultural values and rich cultural heritage among the students by showcasing various cultures and communities living in Nagaland. Addressing the programme as the guest of honour, NEZCC Director Lipokmar Tzudir said cultures play a very crucial role in the society and challenged the students to keep every culture in the society alive which has been transferred by our forefathers. He stated that like degrees and certificates of a student’s life, cultural prosperity is also equally important. He also said the advent of education and modernization led to negligence of one’s cultures.
Lipokmar also appealed to the ICFAI University to take heed to the cultural challenges being faced today for a better tomorrow. He also advised the students to continue with what the university aims.
In response to the future plans of IUN in bringing up a centre for ethnic studies, he extended full support and assistance to make the plans a reality.
Pro Vice- Chancelllor, IUN, Dr. CP Alexander described ‘culture’ as a ‘seed essence’ in today’s society while stating that life has more than what science and technology has to offer. He maintained that the most richest people today are not as happy as our forefathers who without money had created a meaning of life through cultures and folklores.
He also stated that the sole idea of organizing such a programme is to make the students aware of the importance of traditional values and culture which is not only coherent for life but will also have healthy business transactions in today’s society.
Display of various cultural items including folksong, folkdances, cultural fusion, folktales of different tribes marked the occasion.
