IUN holds awareness talk on mental health

Resource person along with faculty and students of ICFAI University Nagaland after an awareness talk on mental health on October 6.

Dimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN): The Health Club of ICFAI University Nagaland (IUN), in collaboration with the Community Mental Health Programme (CMHP) of Prodigals’ Home, Dimapur, jointly organised an awareness talk on mental health at the university auditorium on October 6.

According to a press release from the university, the resource person was Imlibenla Mongro, clinical psychologist at Referral Hospital (CIHSR). It informed that the CMHP of Prodigals’ Home was supported by the Azim Premji Foundation since June, 2020.

It stated that the resource person had highlighted on depression and stress, which could affect all age groups from children to older people. According to her, stress could affect all parts of lives including emotions, behaviours, thinking ability and physical health. She added that depression is another serious condition that negatively affects how a person thinks, feels and behaves.

The inaugural and welcome address was delivered by Rupanka Bhuyan, registrar of the university, while K Sani, CMHP project director of Prodigals’ Home, highlighted on the various social and community-based activities undertaken by the organisation in the Chümoukedima district.

It further mentioned that the Health Club of IUN is an initiative to cater to the various health related needs of the students and employees, which is headed by assistant professors namely Elmie K Rengma and Dr. Ashok Kumar.
