It’s time for Nagas to unite for permanent peaceful solution, says NSCN (IM) chairman

Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): Asserting that there could only be one Naga accord to be signed with the government of India, the chairman (yariwo) of NSCN (IM) Q Tuccu has urged leaders across the Naga political and social spectrum to bring all stakeholders on board for an inclusive solution covering all Naga areas.

A press release from the deputy secretary to the chairman on Tuesday informed that Tuccu had informal discussions, before his 'planned departure to New Delhi soon', with the leader of opposition and chairman of the political affairs mission (PAM) of Naga People’s Front (NPF), TR Zeliang, and the presidents of Naga Hoho, Naga Students' Federation, and Eastern Naga People’s Organisation: HK Zhimomi, Ninoto Awomi and Kekongchim Yimchunger respectively, on August 30.

Earlier, the chairman also had a consultation with leaders of the 14 Naga tribes of Nagaland, it informed.

'During the informal discussion with the leaders, the chairman, Tuccu,  stressed that on the Naga issue, and said that it was time to be united for a permanent peaceful solution in the region; and the role of stakeholders should be totally focused on resolving and facilitating any differences that would arise.

'He was of the opinion that, as there would only be one common Naga accord by GoI, it was important to take all Nagas along for an inclusive solution covering all Naga-inhabited areas leading to conducive ecosystem of overall growth. Further, in the final accord, all stakeholders would be included and their views consulted,' the press release stated.

The 'leaders', in the course of discussion that lasted for almost two hours, shared that there was a need for a common voice at this crucial phase of negotiations, it stated. "They were of the view that there was a strong desire and aspirations of all Nagas for early peaceful solution to usher peace in the region. They reiterated the point that they would continue to actively participate to facilitate the peace process and appreciated the views of the NSCN IM chairman Mr Q Tuccu and endorsed the need of a collective effort for peace in all Naga inhabited areas," it added.
