Dimapur, Oct. 20 (EMN): Amid speculations of the NSCN/GPRN-Reformation (NSCN-R) heading for a split, the group on Wednesday stated that it would try to resolve the difference and avoid creation of another faction.

In a press release signed by its President Y Wangtin Naga and General Secretary P Tikhak, the NSCN (R) stated that it is disturbing when some of its leaders expressed their resentment towards it in public when everyone is patiently waiting in prayer to see a good and better days for the Nagas.

The group stated that “it is certainly not pleasant to our ears to hear of new faction”.

“Factionalism has killed the backbone of the Nagas economically, socially, politically, Naga brotherhood, and what not. Therefore, it is certainly not a time to create new party and factions; rather our focus should be to find out a political solution collectively and also to introspect in our past; where we have went wrong,” read the press release.

“Differences do happen in every society, every institution, every family but, we should not allow the differences to overcome our common goal. There may be minor differences within the party workers but we assure that we will do our best to resolve all the differences very shortly,” it added.

The group went on to appeal “to all the Naga people not to feel disturbed but help us in prayer to amicably resolve all issues”.

‘Decision put on hold’

Meanwhile, a press release stated to be from the MIP of NSCN (R) informed that the group held a meeting at Hoito village on Tuesday, which was “aimed for endorsement of some very important and impending issue”.

Informing that the meeting was attended by majority of regional authorities, UT-1, Secretariat staff, Naga Army, political wing and ACLs, it said the “declaration for endorsement” was kept on hold for two-three days after a personal request from the Convenor of Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups, N Kitovi Zhimomi.

The update on to say that the members including HoD, HoM, Chairman of UT-1/Regional Authorities Secretariat staff led by the chief secretary and home secretary, Naga Army officials and others “declared their loyalty and allegiance to their collective leader, Inno Akato Chophi, echoing and reverberating behind the call of the vice president for ‘Re-Reformation’.”
