The construction of an International Trade Centre (ITC) at Avakhung, near the Indo-Myanmar border under Meluri Sub-Division in Phek district is nearing completion and will be inaugurated for the public soon.
This was informed by Parliamentary Secretary for Industries & Commerce, Amenba Yaden, who recently inspected the ongoing construction of the RCC structured ITC Centre.
The trade centre consists two buildings for exchange of trade and commerce between India and Myanmar, and a rest house for visitors.
The politician informed that traders from Myanmar have approached the Industries & Commerce Department asking for allotment of rooms for establishment of business activities. He said one structure would be allotted to them while the other would be given to traders from Nagaland.
Yaden said, the government will try to take up more infrastructure development at the trade centre site.
Once the ITC is furnished, it would be dedicated to the people along with the inauguration of the Indo-Myanmar road from Avakhung to Layshee (Myanmar), he stated.
The parliamentary secretary inspected the ongoing construction of ITC Avakhung while accompanying Minister for Roads & Bridges Y Vikheho Swu and Minister for School Education & SCERT Yitachu during their visit to the Indo-Myanmar road construction site last week.
