The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) on Thursday asserted that it is time for political parties in the state to “prove their manifestos” of gender equality and women empowerment” by issuing party tickets to women in the upcoming Assembly election.
In a press statement, NMA appealed to the political parties to ensure that women candidates are encouraged and given space in the state Assembly election by issuing them their political party tickets.
“We are well aware of some of our best women candidates who are ready and trying to get party tickets for this Election. There cannot be a better time to give Naga women the opportunity to contest and represent us in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
“We wish them the very best and hope that they are elected in a free and fair manner,” read the statement.
