DIMAPUR — The Indian Social Responsibility Network (ISRN) organised an inter-departmental convergence meeting for vaccination at the Bhandari Town Hall in collaboration with the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bhandari, on Monday.

According to a DIPR report, Stephen K Kithan, an ISRN outreach worker (ORW), presided over the programme.

Kithan mentioned on the occasion that ISRN, in partnership with the state government, is currently executing the MOMENTUM Routine Immunisation Transformation and Equity (MRITE) programme, supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), in Nagaland.

The aim of this programme is to bolster the government’s efforts in the COVID-19 vaccination drive by ensuring vaccine accessibility to all communities across every district of Nagaland.

Dr. Caroline, a senior medical officer from CHC Bhandari and a resource person, spoke about the Universal Immunisation Programme, detailing the twelve vaccines available to combat various diseases and emphasising every child’s right to a healthy life.

According to her, despite the difficulties, the vaccination process in the Bhandari sub-division has improved. There is, however, more work to be done.

Caroline emphasised the importance of community involvement in the pursuit and delivery of a seamless healthcare system. She urged leaders of civil society organisations, churches, and public figures to work together to ensure that healthcare programmes reach all stakeholders without compromise.

T Y Peter Yanthan, child development project officer, Bhandari, discussed the government’s initiatives to assist the elderly, people with disabilities, and pregnant or lactating mothers with their livelihoods. He also discussed the medical and healthcare facilities available in the region for mothers and children.

Other notable speakers at the programme included Don Bosco Higher Secondary School principal Rev. Fr. Matthew Rhanben, Bhandari Town Baptist Church pastor Rev. N Longshi Lotha, 7NAP pastor Rev. K Renphamo Odyuo, Eloe Hoho Bhandari president Mhonyani Mozhui, and Bhandari Town Students’ Union president Longshithung Mozhui.
