[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he gullible public has been told that a High Powered Committee (HPC, four members) has been set up to look into the issue of illegal and multiple taxations. This news was flashed in the paper on 27th of August as if the date and time for the second coming of the Messiah for Nagas has been finalized, the deal sealed and all the good days ahead, alas! Knowing the pathetic system and trend that our state is going through in the present lay back mode, whether it is the government of the day, NGO’s, Church, apex students’ organization, other stake holder etc. rather than being pro-active, I don’t see not even a glare of light at the end of the tunnel, though I am not a pessimist. The latest is the B. Sc. Horticulture seat imbroglio, where everyone know, if not an hypocrite, who is at fault, on what proportion and who’s level things were manipulated. In full public view the bureaucrats sitting in high offices tried to lobby another seat which was not possible, so the illegally admitted candidate was forced to withdraw his candidature to his awful embarrassment. What action has been initiated for the people involved in that scam, whoever the person maybe or whatsoever position he/she may hold? The illegal act of the departments boomerang and they were exposed nude, even fools need no explanation to know who the culprits are. Has anyone heard about the action taken report of the scam? If anyone has heard it or not I don’t know but I haven’t heard and I don’t even hope for one. All this drama happen right in front of us, it was flashed everywhere in all the dailies of the state, but the end result no one know or doesn’t bother. Likewise, the four members High Powered Committee (HPC) has been constituted, the committee has been given 90 days time to look into the issue of illegal and multiple taxations and go into the genesis of the causes and conditions that facilitated such harmful practices and identify those behind it (12 terms of reference)After 90 days time the committee will come out with its finding reports, the report which the people and the government already knew about it beforehand but is watching the show from the balcony section of the arena. The government machinery know everything, everything is under their microscopic lens. My view here is, by constituting whatsoever Powered Committee, until and unless the government of the day and other stake holder of the state have it in them “ the political will” to eradicate all the illegal things happening right below our nose, come whatsoever Powered Committee, be it a Nuclear Powered one, the objective of this so called High Powered Committee (HPC) will not be achieved as desired, thus, expending the exchequers money and human resource in return for no result at this hard time is not a music to my ear. Personally I am an ardent supporter of the ACAUT movement and urge the ACAUT members to conduct 2nd Naga plebiscite and let the people decide for themselves as to which system they are in favour, Multi-faction or One Naga National Government and dispatch the mandate of the Naga People to all the headquarters of the so called Naga Political Groups (I don’t know how many do we have as I am not good at numbers) and see what their next course of action after they examine the will of the mass in the mandate, then the people will come to know in black and white who the NPGs are fighting for, for their personal glory or for glory of the Nagas. Coming to the point I am not against the committee but for sure skeptic about the present system. The committee will come out with their thorough findings in hundreds and hundreds of pages in about 80 days time from now, but I still have the question, who is going to bell the cat?
