When compared to other subjects, there are comparatively few commerce students in our state (Nagaland), in view of the fact that students who score well tend to choose arts or sciences over commerce, with the majority of parents discouraging their children from pursuing commerce because they believe it has limited social applications, and has an opinion that commerce means something to do with accounts or working in banks only. They are not very aware of what to do after commerce.
Whether it is a diploma or certification course, there are many options out there for commerce graduates. Examples of job-oriented courses available are – Financial Accounting and Analysis, Business Management, Digital Marketing and Data Analysis. These courses equip students with the knowledge and skills to pursue their desired profession.
Studying commerce has numerous benefits, including the acquisition of transferable skills and the opportunity to network and meet new people. For students hoping to work in business and finance, a commerce degree is a great advantage since it provides them with the fundamental knowledge and abilities connected to any business profession. It also emphasizes personality development by supporting students in strengthening their leadership skills and acquiring critical problem-solving methods that are required to handle difficult circumstances.
Education in commerce covers a wide range of topics, from accounting to entrepreneurship, knowledge of banking, investment, taxation, personal finance, legal frameworks, marketing, and entrepreneurship principles and practices, giving students the knowledge and abilities they need to succeed in a variety of job settings. Consequently, the value of commerce education cannot be emphasized, and anyone hoping to work in business would be well served by enrolling in one of these programmes.
Employers in various industries will be interested in you if you have strong time management, effective communication, and teamwork skills. Some examples of these industries include: Accounting, Consultancy, Finance, Human Resource, Management, Research, Insurance, Banking, Marketing and Advertising, etc.
Studying commerce will provide you with the chance to learn about the business and commerce world from knowledgeable instructors and tutors who have real-world experience as well as positions in the industry. Additionally, there might be opportunities for you to participate in work experience or learn from guest speakers. Your degree will enable you to learn accounting and financial management, giving you the assurance and tools you need to launch your own company. Additionally, if you have the most brilliant business ideas and are very creative, your ability to sell your goods will be substantially improved. Obtaining a degree in commerce offers the opportunity to interact with like-minded people and build a network.
