DIMAPUR — With an objective to equip students with essential life-saving skills, the Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland (IRCSN) state branch, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland Mon district, organised a first aid training programme at KU hall in Thamnan ward of Mon town on October 13.

An update from IRCSN stated that Ajit Kumar Verma, deputy commissioner and president of IRCSN, Mon district, motivated the students to join the organisation, while the chief medical officer (CMO) and vice president of IRCSN Mon district, Dr. Vezhokholu Theyo introduced the Red Cross to the participants.

Resource persons were Dr. Wangba from Mon District Hospital and Kholie Dolf, St. John Ambulance first aid master trainer. They have shared the history, emblem and seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross. Besides, important topics on first aid and basic life support with practical live demonstrations were conducted by the resource persons.

A total of 127 participants including Junior Red Cross (JRC) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) from Wangkhao College, Vale College, Model School, St. John Higher Secondary School and Christ King School attended the training.

Meanwhile, the Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State branch has expressed gratitude to the participants and reaffirmed its commitment to future initiatives.
