Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): The department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) on Saturday bade farewell to its retiring director Limawati Ao in the directorate’s conference hall.
Delivering his farewell speech, the retiring director narrated his journey in the department. He said he first joined as an information officer and subsequently his district postings in Wokha and Mokokchung as DPRO.
He said he was encouraged by the attitude of senior officers about the main objectives of the department, and having an interest in writing and reading, it motivated him to give his best service for the uplift of the department. He called it his fate that he was appointed to serve in the department, as he enjoyed the work assigned to him to serve the government and the people which has led him to his success.
He shared about the struggles and difficulties he faced while serving as an officer in the districts due to lack of proper equipment and technologies in earlier days, but how he managed to perform his duties with any available resource.
In the directorate too, the outgoing director said there were hardships, but with the inputs and contributions from the officers and staff, today the department is the front-runner in technology to carry out all the work through modern technologies and the efficient staff behind it all.
He also said the department is being recognised and looked up for the services rendered to the people and to the government. This, he said was successful due to the co-operation, efforts, contributions, enthusiasm and hard work of all officers and staff.
Advisor for IPR, SCERT and Village Guards Toshi Wungtung remarked that the outgoing director was an inspiring officer with outstanding leadership quality and an efficient administrator. He stated that IPR has been a ‘glamorous’ department under his directorship and quoted him “truly a captain of the ship”. He said that the Aos would be leaving a priceless legacy, a legacy which cannot be bought rather, which can only be achieved through good personality and character.
He said work ethic is the most important thing in an institution or an organisation and encouraged the the department to follow the legacy of work ethics and tributes which the retiring director leaves behind.
Wungtung appreciated the contributions of the director towards the department and hoped his successors would continue to bring forward the department to be a monument among other departments in the state.
State Transport Commissioner Elias Lotha and Director of Employment, Skill Development Chiten Yaden also recounted their days while posted in the same district and also their association with the director at all levels.
Joint director Dzuvinuo Theunuo, deputy director Siewatho S Nyusou and DPRO of Dimapur Lolano also delivered speeches.
On the occasion, two books published by the department of IPR, a pictorial monograph titled: ‘Nagaland Album - A Photographic Journey’ and a reference booklet titled ‘An Insider’s Guide for DIPR Officials’ were also released by the advisor and retiring director.
The Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) has conveyed good wishes to the outgoing director of IPR, Limawati Longchar.
The club described him as an upright and sincere officer, a brilliant mentor and an empathetic friend.
“His ideals, perspectives and guidance have encouraged us all through the years. It has been a privilege and an honour for us to have acquainted with him. We have seen how he devoted all of his time and energy to lead DIPR in fulfilling the department’s vision and mission in the service of the people and how he successfully led the department to become what it is today - a department par excellence.
“His astute leadership, discipline and dedication will always be an inspiration for us and we shall remain forever grateful to him for his support and goodwill towards the Mokokchung Press Club,” the message read.
“Today, we have nothing to offer him in return but it is our sincere prayer that our Almighty God would bless him and his family abundantly. We wish him happiness, good health, and a long and hearty retirement life,” it added.
