Dimapur, April 11 (EMN): The advisor for Information and Public Relation (IPR), SCERT and Village Guards, Toshi Wungtung has said that inclusiveness and participation was democracy.
The IPR is the backbone and a launch pad to strengthening ‘the spirit of democracy,’ Wungtung was quoted in a DIPR report that was received on Wednesday.
The advisor was speaking during an ‘introductory meeting’ of the department in the directorate’s conference hall on April 11, it was informed.
Wungtung said to have undertaken research and that he had searched for information; reading and writing books and co-authoring. ‘Reading and writing is very important it takes you forward, makes you interact, it launches you deep and far. There is no bound having to be informed and know,’ he said.
Stressing on the importance of information, Wungtung said that since the time of the ancient civilisations, coordination and information have been the basic tool.
“All the departments are in need of our service because everyone knows how important it is to know and to get updated, we believe in participative and inclusive governance,” the advisor remarked.
However, he said it was important for one to be informed to be correct, and that at the same time the right to right information was as much important.
“Our mind must be an open and inquiring, we are all very captivated after the arrival of mobiles and laptops. We are very comfortable in our own rooms and we have become individualistic but at the same time community participation is very important. This department can do a lot of contributions to bring community to the game,” he added.
The director of the IPR Limawati Ao gave an overview of the department’s activities. He highlighted the structural set-up of the directorate and the district offices; its role and activities; and the changes in the priorities of the department during the past several decades since the inception of the department.
