[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Department of Health & Family Welfare has stated in a press release that the 1st round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme in Nagaland for the year 2015 will be held on Sunday, January 18.
The Department of Health & Family Welfare is all geared up to administer Polio drops to over 2.46 lakh eligible children from 0-5 years throughout the State in 2,317 Polio Booths to be manned by 9,268 vaccinators and 463 supervisors along with vaccines and other logistics. Special focus will be given to the migrant population with an aim to prevent importation of Polio cases. This programme is our nation’s contribution to the global effort of eradicating Polio disease from the world. Due to the active participation of all concerned, the State has had no case of Polio since 1997, which is indeed an achievement to be proud of. However, we cannot remain complacent till every corner of the country, in the world, is declared free of polio.
While thanking everyone for their past cooperation, the Department appeals all sections of the people, Agencies (Govt. and Non-Govt., including the security forces and police), organizations, and especially community leaders and parents of children below 5 years to come forward and ensure that all eligible children receive the “two drops of life” (Polio drops) on 18th January 2015.
For any further information one may contact its nearest Health Centre or the Chief Medical Officer/District Programme Officer (RCH-UIP) of its district. ‘Let us together gift our children a ‘Polio Free World’.
