International Women’s Day celebrated across Manipur

IMPHAL — The International Women’s Day was observed across Manipur on the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” on Friday.

The Social Welfare department observed the occasion at the auditorium of Directorate of Information and Public Relations at Keishampat in Imphal and was attended by Social Welfare minister H Dingo and other officials.

The All Manipur Working Journalist Union celebrated the day at Manipur Press Club premises in Imphal, while district administrations of Chandel, Senapati and others also observed the occasion.

The Central Security Forces organized a dynamic Run for Fun at Moreh, Tengnoupal district to promote camaraderie and fitness among participants, while a lecture on feline hygiene, breast cancer awareness and importance of contraceptives was held by the Army unit in Moreh.

The Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles(South) organised ’Run for Fun’ for women in Somsai, Chassad and Shangshak garrisons of Ukhrul and Kamjong, besides the celebrating the occasion at Sajik Molcham, Changpol and Phaisanjang villages under Chandel district.
