International University Nagaland will celebrate World Laboratory Day with academic competitions on April 23.

DIMAPUR — International University Nagaland will celebrate World Laboratory Day 2026 at its campus starting at 10 am on April 23.
Organised under the aegis of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, the event aims to raise awareness about the significance of laboratory sciences and to inspire students to pursue careers in scientific and healthcare domains.
Nungsangmeren Jamir, Microbiologist at the TB Culture and Drug Susceptibility Testing Laboratory, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima, will attend as the resource person.
As part of the celebration, the university will host an inter-school extempore speech competition on the topics "Role of Medical Laboratory Science in the healthcare system" and "Importance of Artificial Intelligence in the future of Medical Science".

Each school can nominate three participants for this competition, and each speaker will be allotted three to five minutes. The use of notes or electronic devices is strictly prohibited.
The university will also conduct a poster-making competition, where participants can select from three themes: "Myths vs. Science in healthcare", "Fighting emerging diseases through science", and "Medical Laboratory Science: The backbone of diagnosis".
Three students will be allowed to participate from each school. Participants will be given one and a half hours to create original, handmade posters using provided chart papers and their own materials.
The university has invited media representatives, educational institutions, and the general public to join the celebration.
World Laboratory Day is observed annually on April 23 to honour the indispensable role laboratories play in advancing human progress, scientific discovery, and improving everyday life.
