Multiple organisations in Dimapur and Chümoukedima celebrated the International Day of Yoga with yoga sessions.

DIMAPUR — Along with the rest of the world, the International Day of Yoga 2026 was observed by multiple organisations in Nagaland.
BKRMC Kohima: The Brahma Kumaris Rajyoga Meditation Centre (BKRMC) in Kohima observed the day along with a Nasha Mukta Signature Campaign on the theme "Yoga for healthy ageing".

According to an update, special yoga and meditation programmes were conducted at various institutions, including the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), the Kohima Head Post Office, and the 13 Assam Rifles. Around 600 to 700 participants attended these programmes.
Addressing the gatherings, Director of Brahma Kumaris Kohima Centre Rajyogini BK Rupa Behen explained that yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a holistic way of life that strengthens both the body and the mind.
She also explained the scientific benefits of yogic practices such as pranayama and conscious breathing techniques, which improve mental clarity, emotional stability, and overall health.
Assam Rifles: Assam Rifles conducted and celebrated Yoga Day at multiple locations across Nagaland on Sunday.

The mass yoga sessions were organised at Mon Headquarters, Battalion Headquarters Shamator, Tactical Headquarters Noklak, and all company operating bases (COBs) and tactical operating bases (TOBs) across the area, as well as in Tuensang, Kiphire, Mokokchung, and Mon districts.
The sessions witnessed participation from officers, JCOs, and troops, along with their family members, students, and NCC and NSS cadets.
The sessions comprised various asanas, pranayama, and meditation practices conducted under the guidance of trained instructors, who highlighted the health benefits and necessary precautions associated with different postures.
St. Joseph University: The Department of Physical Education at St. Joseph University (SJU) observed International Yoga Day on June 20.

The event was hosted by Nanglem Konyak, while Navneet Oraon highlighted the significance of the day and encouraged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routines.
The yoga session was led by Dilip Bhagat, State President of Patanjali Yog Samiti (PYS) and Bharat Swabhiman Trust (BST), along with Sajal Roy, District President of PYS and BST, Dimapur. The instructors guided participants through various yoga asanas, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises.
Students, faculty members, and staff participated in the session.
JITO Ladies Wing: The JITO Dimapur Ladies Wing observed the day under the guidance of its Chairperson Dr. Rajni Sethi and Chief Secretary Seema Sethi.
The event was coordinated by Health and Nutrition Convener Meena Sethi and Co-Convener Babita Chhabra.
On the occasion, Babita Chhabra highlighted the significance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental well-being and expressed gratitude to all those present. Yoga instructor Rinku Jhanjhari Jain conducted various yoga asanas and pranayama sessions and explained their health benefits.
The programme witnessed the participation of nearly 100 men and women.
Joint CCA: The office of the Joint Controller of Communication Accounts (Jt. CCA) celebrated the International Day of Yoga at its office premises on Sunday.
The programme witnessed the participation of staff members who came together to perform various yoga asanas and breathing exercises.
