Kohima, May 2 (EMN): MLA Neiba Kronu today reminded the youths that there is no shortcut to sporting excellence but through hard work, discipline and complete abstinences from substance abuse. He was speaking during the inaugural function of the 4th Inter-ward Football Tournament at Pfutsero Town on Tuesday as the chief guest. Kronu called upon the sportspersons to be dedicated in the respective field and to be professional. All the 11 wards are competing in the tournament which will conclude on May 6.
Highlighting the establishment of various sporting facilities like Pfutsero Sports Complex, Indoor Table Tennis Stadium, Multi-purpose indoor stadium etc. through centrally sponsored schemes during his tenure, Kronu urged upon the youth to avail these facilities and excel not only at the area level but even at the state, national and international levels.
Meanwhile, on the occasion, the local MLA while acknowledging the selfless service of the traffic constable Neingupe Marhu to keep the town clean by disposing the town garbage daily extended financial assistance to keep up the good-work.
The function was chaired by Pfutsero Town Sports Association, Vice President Deko Chiero. Inaugural prayer was pronounced by Pastor, Calvary Baptist Church Keduwepe Mero while welcome note was delivered by President PTSA Vekhosa Ruho and a special number by Wetshoteu Lekro.
