Inter-ward football tourney begins
Dimapur, October 18: The 11th Inter-Ward Football Tournament-cum-Tug of War (girls) began on Tuesday at Peren Town with the theme “Team Work makes Dream Work”. The event has been organised by the Peren Town Youth. Deputy Commissioner Peren, Zarenthung Ezung attended the occasion as the chief guest during the inaugural function.Speaking on the occasion, Ezung remarked that ‘success never comes easy’. He asked the players not to focus on short-term goals but to keep up perseverance, dedication and hard work. He maintained that sport is an essential component of human resource development and our society has to provide an excellent opportunity for our youngsters to develop their sporting skills which would equip them with the right mindset and values for our dynamically changing world. He also encouraged the players citing the examples of Late Dr T. Ao who captained the Indian Football team way back in 1948, a DIRP quoted Ezung as saying.
Altogether fifteen teams from different wards are competing in the tournament while Tug of War (girls) was played during halftime of the match.
