Inter-school peace colloquium held at St. Xavier Jalukie

Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): Peace Channel Peren Chapter organised inter-school peace colloquium on peace-building and peace showcase at St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie on April 29, with headmaster of Christian School, Peidoding Heraang and RK Janthuiyang John, Project Coordinator of Peace Channel as resource persons.
Speaking on topic ‘Peace and Peace-building in our society’, Heraang stressed on the importance of peace-building through moral purity. He projected the students and youths as a strong force in bringing about change in our broken society. He also acknowledged the founder of Peace Channel, Dr. Fr. CP Anto and encouraged the student to carry forward the legacy of what the founder has done, so that the younger generation lives in a better place and environment.
He also urge the students in building and spreading peace by being responsible students, resolving conflict in their own capacities and not giving a blind eye to the element leading to distortion in our society.
John spoke on the values to attain inner peace which consist of love, sacrifice, empathy, equality, discipline, generosity and justice. He said one cannot give to others what one doesn’t have. Likewise, he said peace cannot be given to the other person unless one has it with oneself. In order to achieve universal peace, it should start from oneself which will slowly expand to the family, community, religion and the world at large, he added.
Welcome speech was delivered by Khenenle, teacher animator of SXHSS while words on behalf of SXHSS was delivered by Fr. Salas Ngade, vice principal and vote of thanks was proposed by P David Ndang,Peace Channel, Peren District Coordinator. Multimedia presentation on Peace Channel was also displayed.
Through the program, the students and the participant have been disseminated the knowledge of the different symbols of Peace, prominent figures and personalities in peace, children’s perspective of peace, an idea on how to be a peace-builder by avoiding conflict and other peace concepts through group song – ‘Heal the world’ and choreography. The program was attended by more than 210 participants.
was partaken by 6 Peace club established schools in Jalukie, specifically, St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Government Higher Seconadry School, Christian School, Ibaung Thou Memorial School, Ikiesing Memorial School and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Peren.
