Inter-school badminton championship underway in Mokokchung

(EM Images)[/caption] Our correspondent Mokokchung, April 13 (EMN): The Mokokchung inter-school badminton championship got underway at indoor badminton stadium, organised by Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) with Lt. Col. Shailendra Dhar, technical head (EME) of HQ7 sector AR as the chief guest. Encouraging the young athletes numbering more than seventy children, Lt. Col. Shailendra Dhar said that he understood the pain and sacrifices one had to endure since he was also from a sports background since childhood. He also appreciated the organisers for giving platform for youngsters to promote their latent talents in the field of badminton. NEIDA representative, Imrongkumla, said she was happy and proud to collaborate with a distinguished association like MDBA and said that the company was looking forward for more collaboration in the near future. Delivering the welcome speech, Toshi Imsong, MDBA president, encouraged all the young athletes to give their best saying that their pain and sacrifices would convert into sweet victories tomorrow. The programme was chaired by Imkongmenla Longkumer, while the MTBA youth director, Monglier, said the invocation and a special song was presented by students of Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School. Altogether, more than 70 young athletes are participating in the event representing eleven schools from all over the district. The two day championship is being organised by MDBA in collaboration with NEIDA, an initiative of Tata Trust.
