Inter-District One Day Tournament: Chümoukedima, Dimapur register wins

DIMAPUR — The ongoing Senior Men’s Inter-District One Day Tournament has entered the exciting stage as the final round matches have begun.

In the first match of the day played at Nagaland Cricket Stadium on Thursday, Chümoukedima defeated Longleng by seven wickets, in a low-scoring match.

According to update from Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) Longleng scored a paltry 62 runs in 24.4 overs, with Rajesh Das contributing 12 runs. Jonathan Rongsen ripped through the batting line-up of Longleng, claiming four wickets for just 17 runs, for which he was declared Player of the Match.

Chasing a low target, Chümoukedima reached the target in just 13.4 overs, scoring 65 runs for loss of three wickets. Mughavi Sumi was the top scorer for the team with 31 runs.

In the second match of the day, Mon put up 105 runs on the board in 40.2 overs, with Santosh Kumar top-scoring with 41 runs. However, Dimapur chased down the target effortlessly, reaching 107 runs in just 8.2 overs, without losing any wickets, defeating Mon by 10 wickets.

Shamphri Terang of Dimapur was awarded Player of the Match title for his score of 68 runs off just 34 balls. I Temjentoshi Jamir also scored 18 runs for the team.

Boy’s U-16 Inter-District Tournament

Peren outclassed Chümoukedima in Boy’s U-16 Inter-District Tournament played at St. Xavier College Ground, Jalukie, in Peren.

Chümoukedima elected to bat first after winning the toss and managed to score only 62 runs in the first innings. In response, Peren put up 168 runs on the board.

In the second innings, Chümoukedima came back more determined but were able to score only 106 runs. With just one run to win, Peren comfortably won the match by 10 wickets.
