Inter-Dept tournament concludes

The 2nd Inter Departmental Tournament 2013 concluded on November 25 with Minister of Art & Culture and Elections E.E. Pangteang Konyak as the Chief Guest at the Officers’ Club, Mon.In his speech the chief guest informed that the state Government has already adopted “Nagaland Sports Policy” and under this policy various disciplines would be identified and awarded not only to the players but also to the coaches who are responsible for the players’ performance in bringing laurels to the state.
Briefing on the popularity of badminton in the state, Pangteang said its’ a discipline played with utmost discipline by promoting peace, friendship and understanding. Badminton has received encouraging support from all sections, especially from the Government machinery in the state, he added. He also said that the officers’ club has not only created an arena for sports alone but also a successful platform in building a cordial atmosphere among the officers of various departments in the district.
Advising the players he said every participant would have displayed their best effort in the tournament to win because winning is important objective of the game. And at the same time he said there has to be a loser in every match because winners and losers are essential parts of the game and exhorted the losers to take it as a challenge for future victory.
Extending gratitude to the club members for conceiving noble idea in establishing the Elite Officers’ Club of Mon and organizing such event, the Minister also acknowledged his appreciation to all the Government Officials headed by the DC and SP, Mon for their remarkable contribution for the development of Mon district. He was optimistic that their predecessor would continue to uphold the same yeoman service rendered by them in the future for the interest of the public.
