Inter-departmental tournament kicks off in Zunheboto
DIMAPUR — The 10th inter-departmental tournament of Zunheboto district got underway on Thursday at DSCZ Indoor Stadium, with Advisor, Land Resources, G Ikuto Zhimomi, as a special guest.
Quoting the popular adage ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,’ Zhimomi, in his address, said that the tournament is a much-needed break for government employees who are tied down by official duties most of the time.
He urged all the participants to not only focus on winning but to keep in mind the spirit of the game and exhibit quality sportsmanship, an update stated.
He further advised all the participants to utilise “this time to have fun, rejuvenate oneself, increase efficacy in work and also build a strong bond of relationship so that all may consciously work in collaboration to develop our town and uplift our community in every sphere of life.”
Players representing various departments are competing in two disciplines – badminton (doubles and single) and carrom (double).
The programme is organised by the District Sports Council and will conclude on September 9.
In the exhibition match played between Nagaland under-11 and under-13 (Nagaland state champion 2023), Nagaland under-13 emerged victorious in straight sets.
