DIMAPUR — The inaugural programme of the Phek district Inter-departmental Tournament was held at Badminton Stadium, Phek on November 23 with Phek Superintendent of Police Dr Pritpal Kaur Batra as the special guest.
In her inaugural address, Dr Kaur drew inspiration from a verse in the Bible, emphasising that sports instill values such as discipline, teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship. She highlighted the role of sports in maintaining both physical and mental health, encouraging everyone to engage in games based on their interests and capabilities.
The special guest then officially inaugurated the two-day Inter-Department Tournament with badminton and shuttle shot events. Following the inauguration, an exhibition match featured participants such as SP Phek, CO 5th NAP, DC Phek, and others.
The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Wutsutho Nyuthe, DSO Phek, while Tsenthungo E Ngullie NCS, SDO & Convener of the Inter-Departmental Tournament, delivered the welcome address.
The event included an invocation prayer and a special song presented by Thungchibemo, Pastor of Lotha Baptist Church Phek, and Nekhoyi Stephen Rhakho, respectively. The programme was chaired by Er Kesoweu Wetsah, AUDO, Phek, according to an update from the state DIPR.
