KOHIMA — The second edition of the Inter-College Basketball Tournament, with the theme ‘to infinity and beyond,’ began on Tuesday at Don Bosco College, Kohima (DBCK). The students’ forum DBCK is organising the two-day tournament, which is being co-sponsored by alumni of the college.

Don Bosco College, Sazolie College, St. Joseph’s College, Oriental College, Japfü Christian College, Model Christian College, and Baptist College are among the colleges participating in the tournament.

Vilalhou Sorhie, president of the Kohima Village Students’ Union, who attended the event as a special invitee, expressed his love for sports and emphasised how important sports are for students because they enhance their health and personalities. He added that through sports, an individual learns life lessons such as perseverance, discipline, and collaboration.

He also extended his gratitude to the coaches and team leaders from various colleges for their tireless efforts in nurturing and guiding the young, talented players. He stated that their influence extends far beyond the court, shaping and moulding the players’ potential while also lauding the spectators and supporters for their presence and creating an electrifying spirit of unity for the players.

He mentioned that peer competition has always been a source of stress in students’ lives, but sports can define a person’s character and discipline while also bringing people together, breaking down barriers, and inspiring young people to dream big.

Don Bosco College defeated Sazolie College in the first match, St. Joseph’s College defeated Oriental College in the second match, and Japfü Christian College defeated Model Christian College in the third match. Oriental College defeated Baptist College in the fourth match.

According to the schedule, the losing team in the second match received a slot to play in the fourth match, which they won.
