Dimapur, Sep. 24 (EMN): Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Chozuba under Phek district observed the National Social Scheme (NSS) Day on September 24 with Veyito Nyekha, resource person of Phek District Industries Centre and CTCSU president, as the speaker on the theme “NSS and the society.”
Speaking on the occasion, Nyekha encouraged the students to contribute towards society in every possible way and at the same time not to neglect their studies, an update from the school stated.
‘Ideal person is what the society needs,’ he said and congratulated the newly inducted NSS volunteers on their decision to serve the community.
The keynote address was delivered by Angelo Pfithu, NSS programme officer, wherein he highlighted the definition and motto of NSS. While emphasising on the importance of NSS services towards the society, he encouraged all to contribute towards the betterment of society and humanity at large.
After the formal programme, the programme officer along with the speaker and volunteers visited CHC Chozuba with some basic necessities for the patients and staffs and donated five planted pots to Chozuba town.
Commemorating its foundation day, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Mount Tiyi College organised an orientation programme for NSS volunteers in the college conference hall on September 24.
An update from the college stated that speech on ‘My experience as an NSS volunteer’ was shared by Chumreni B Lotha from 5th semester and introduction to NSS was delivered by Rentsamo J Humtsoe, NSS programme officer of Mount Tiyi College.
The programme concluded with singing of the NSS anthem and benediction said by Ekonbeni M Tsanglao, assistant professor of English.
