INR 1.19 lakh collected from 1197 persons caught not wearing masks in Dimapur

Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): Dimapur Police has collected around INR 1, 19, 700 (about INR 1.19 lakh) from people who were found flouting its directive to wear masks in public places.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur (Crime), Relo Aye, told Eastern Mirror on Tuesday that around 1197 challans have been issued so far in the city for not wearing face mask. 

He however added that no violation has been registered till date in connection with the night curfew which came into effect on April 23 in Dimapur district.

The Dimapur police commissioner had issued an order on April 14, stating that wearing of masks is mandatory in public places within Dimapur district, and non-compliance of the same would attract a fine of INR 100, which was later increased to INR 200.
